What are the top stress points for Canadian business travellers?

It’s not easy being a business traveller these days, according to a recent report.

Among the strains facing Canadian business travellers, schedule disruptions (45%) is the top source of anxiety, according to a study from Corporate Traveller Canada.

That is followed by feeling the financial burden of rising travel expenses (44%) and the economic uncertainty (42%).

This is the case even though business travel bookings have increased by 10% compared to last year, reported Travel Press, citing Corporate Traveller’s own tracking.

Canadian employees are increasingly open to travelling for business this year, according to a previous survey. However, the cost of business travel has grown, according to a previous report.

How do I optimize my business travel?

“Business travel today demands more than just showing up to meetings and networking; it’s about optimizing every aspect of the trip,” says Chris Lynes, managing director for Corporate Traveller.

“Adopting carry-on-only travel and choosing strategic flight times are effective ways to enhance airport experiences, ensuring both cost savings and reduced stress.”

Here are some other ways business travellers can optimize their travel experience, according to Corporate Traveller Canada:

  • Get the most out of your carry-on by choosing airlines that allow up to 14kg, with the option to add more if needed.
  • Pick accommodations offering amenities like premium toiletries and gym facilities, which can significantly lighten packing lists.
  • Always aim to book direct flights when available to avoid unnecessary layovers and delays.
  • Consider travel timing.
  • Use a quality travel credit card that includes airport lounge access.
  • Enroll in airline and hotel loyalty programs.
  • Get professional insight.

Business travel will never return to normal, according to a previous report.
